  • Aer Arann and ATR

    Published: Thursday, June 22, 2006

Aer Arann signed a contract to purchase 10 new 72-seat ATR 72-500s over the next three years. The deal is worth more than $180 million. The carrier will use the aircraft to "replace and supplement" its existing fleet of 14 ATR 42s and ATR 72s, increasing it to 20 by the end of 2009. It will take delivery of two dash 500s in 2007, five in 2008 and three in 2009. "This is a significant milestone for Aer Arann and marks a consolidation of our strategic policy in going forward with an ATR fleet," MD Padraig O'Ceidigh said. "This expansion will enable us to develop our network further into the UK and mainland Europe and double the size of the airline over the next three years."

  • Moller International Invited to China

    Published: Friday, June 16, 2006
Moller International was recently invited as a special guest by the Ministry of Public Security, China, to make a presentation to the China Police Forum 2006 on 24 . 27 May in Beijing. The purpose of this event is to identify and choose suitable equipment for China.s Police Force, in particular rapid air transport vehicles.
The visit was organized by Mike Shanley, our Director of International Sales & Marketing through his UK company, Shanley International Business Links.
This is a very important event for Moller International as this is the first time MI has visited China and it.s also the first time China has shown a keen interest in our company and technology. This is largely due to the massive opening up of China to the West taking place right now and also to the current thinking among China.s business and government leaders, encapsulated in their slogan "Innovation is the Life of Our Nation."
The Chinese representatives we have been dealing with have expressed particular interest in the Skycar and our rotary engines. This is not surprising given the 1.4 billion population and the need for low emission, rapid transport and clean burning powerplant solutions there. Remember also that China is already heavily involved in the European Galileo GPS satellite system that the Skycar will use.
Few people in the West realize that China is the world leader in the use of train magnetic levitation (operating in Shanghai at speeds up to 268 miles per hour).
